1Warm intro + set the agenda

Earns permission to ask, and stops you defaulting to a feature dump. Do not screen-share yet.
2Get them talking — like a friend, not a rep
Pick 2–3 that fit. Light and curious, not an interrogation. These are easy for a stranger to answer, and they quietly tell you what you need (what they do, their role, what's working, why they came).

  • "How'd you get into it in the first place?"
  • "So what does the business actually do — give me the real version, not the website one."
  • "Are you the founder, or heading up the marketing side?"

You talk under 45%. This is where trust is built — people buy from people who actually listened.
